I’m currently institutionalised and I’m trying to spend less time online, so I don’t open this app so often. But I’ll be back someday, hopefully in a better state and fully capable of enjoying art, culture, and life in general!

    xoxo, Lena

It’s not a scary psych ward with strict discipline that’s almost like a prison, it’s more like a sanatorium. I have enough freedom here – and internet access! The best thing is that I’m getting free treatment – I can’t work when I’m really depressed and therefore I have no money to get the psychiatric help that I need, and my parents don’t have spare money too. There are hundreds of things that are wrong about free healthcare in Russia, but at least it gives me a chance to get better with no medical bills!

It’s been a good day but then I learnt that a neighbour, who’s also my father’s friend, killed himself yesterday. This morning father told me that they can’t find him. They went to the police… And then the police found him. I’m feeling absolutely devastated now. Can’t stop crying. I saw him a couple of times this week and now he’s dead and cold and I’ll never see him again. That’s unfathomable and soul-crunching. I can’t comprehend death

If you’re thinking about killing yourself please don’t! Ever!

Today’s a nice day too but a person I knew since I was 14 killed himself this week and life is hell

    GERTIE BROWN & SAINT SUTTLE
“Something Good-Negro Kiss,” the newly discovered William Selig silent film from 1898 is believed to be the earliest cinematic depiction of African-American affection. Thanks to scholars at the University of Chicago and the University of Southern California, the footage is prompting a rethinking of early film history. The performance by cakewalk partners Saint Suttle and Gertie Brown is a reinterpretation of Thomas Edison’s “The Kiss,” featuring May Irwin and John Rice. The film was announced December 12, 2018 as a new addition to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry—one of 25 selected for their enduring importance to American culture. The 29-second clip is free of stereotypes and racist caricatures, a stark contrast from the majority of black performances at the turn of the century.

  • i’m in the same boat as you but from one stranger to another, hold on a little longer, try to enjoy one small thing every day even if the rest sucks, keep living out of spite if you can’t do it out of love, just keep going, maybe one day we will get our break and things won’t be so bad

It’s not always easy to ask for help but I think it could be the first tiny baby step into getting better. I know what it’s like - I’m always going to have depression and always going to feel empty but I know I’m worth the effort and patience and compassion to myself. You are too. Sometimes you won’t believe it but you’ll wake up the next day thankful you’re still alive. You might still be crying or numb but it’s so much better waking up the next day than not.

  • Just a few words of support, I'd be glad if they somehow ease things for you a tiny bit. I can vividly recall how hard is to endure times like these: noone knows how long the struggle with depression will be, sure, and yet it's very likely only temporary.

And it is worth one hundred percent to fight through it all and get to the life on the other side: still with hardships and pains yet with all the unnecessary suffering gone.

You'll make it. Just take it one day at a time.

Thank you, dear! I appreciate every word of support I get.

I’m glad that times like this are but a recollection for you today!

  • I’m rather drunk, talkative and sentimental… Maybe you would like to ask me something about living in modern Russia? I think about Mother Russia a lot these days. But if you do, keep in mind that I’m a somewhat privileged Muscovite

  • To be fair no cis woman thinks this hard about gender. Like if youre really questioning it this much youre probably at least nonbinary, cis women dont mind women's clothes cause it matches the gender identity
